You are going to lose them.

Never mind the time, effort and money invested in creating them, forget you’ve been meaning to do this.

Think of what is stored on those tapes.

The last moving images of those you have lost forever, the times gone by with your children, the moments of your life and those most important to you…

The best time to transfer them was yesterday, the second best time is today.

Now is the time before they are lost forever.

We can save them.

That’s why you should gather them together right now and bring them in to The Photo Finishers to have your video tape transferred. If you are like me, if you don’t do it now, you might forget and put it off even longer. It’s easy to do.

Video tape can last as little as 5 years before it completely degrades* and becomes unplayable. Lost and gone forever. Don’t let this happen to you.

“I’ve used them years ago to transfer old 8mm and super 8mm movies to VHS. This Christmas I had them transfer some VHS tapes I had recorded years ago to DVDS. Found another box recently and will be taking those in to have “preserved”. I also found a recording on my computer that was so important to me that I took my computer to them and asked to have it put on a DVD. I’ve never had any problems. You can trust your old videos to them.”

You probably realize that video tape has a limited life span, depending a great deal on the original quality of the tape, as well as temperature and humidity condition that the tape has been exposed to over the course of it’s life.

We don’t process a million tapes a day, and to be honest, we don’t want to.

We want us to be able to process your tape(s) the best that we can and in a timely fashion (not 12-15 weeks like some of those “box” places).

If there is an issue with your video we do everything in our ability to fix it and transfer your tape, not just slap a “we’re sorry that was too hard” sticker on it and ship it back to you.

We are not a big warehouse some place you can’t go to visit.

Yes, we do a lot of work from all over the country where our clients ship to us, but if they wanted, they could stop by and see us to talk in person about their order.

When you call us on the phone at (501) 624-4029 you will actually get one of us, not someone in a cubicle reading a script.

VHS tapes. Can be digitized to DVD or MP4 files at The Photo Finishers

As new technology emerges, it is essential that your video be migrated to the newer media so you can still watch it and preserve it for yourself, your children and grandchildren.

As you can see, analog tape is a great media and is hardy and reliable, but doesn’t last forever, and VCR’s are no longer manufactured.

Your home movie video will be lost and unplayable if not converted to a new format like DVD, MP4 or Blu-ray.

All the hard work, money, time and effort you put into creating the video will be wasted. Lost to the Ages…

AND… What if your tape is broken or you know it has physical damage?

Or the dog ate it….

Damaged Video tape. Actually eaten by a dog! The video was rescued by The Photo Finishers. Dog and Video are ok.

Yes, that’s really what happened. The dog ate their video tape!

Believe it or not, we were able to save it, and delivered a DVD of their video tape, despite the dogs best efforts.

No matter the damage to the tape, we can most likely salvage at least some of the video stored on it.

We are seeing a lot of mildew issues with tapes recently. If you have them stored, please take a look to make sure that is not an issue with your tapes.

The mildew will appear as a kind of white powder on the tape you can see through the window on the top of the tape.

Normal Healthy VHS tape and Mildew damaged tape. We can fix it at The Photo Finishers

If there is mildew, however, all may not be lost. we do offer a mildew mitigation service for an additional cost, where we can at least get them to the point they can be transferred to a new format. This condition will only get worse and they will eventually become unplayable.

Bring you tapes in to The Photo Finishers at 1819 Albert Pike Suite F in Hot Springs so we can best advise you what is necessary after putting our eyes on the tape. There is never any charge to talk to us.

Saving Family Memories

From an article published in The Sentinel Record:

Now is the time to have your family movies on video tape transferred to DVD. According to an article in Forbes Magazine, in July 2016 the last VHS VCR’s were manufactured by Funai Electric in Japan, and the last Beta machine rolled off the assembly line in 2002. “There will come a time when consumers will no longer be able to play their videos,” says Waco Hill, owner of The Photo Finishers, “and we have taken steps over the last few months to insure that we can work with any video format our customers have so their memories won’t be lost.”

“Our clients realize that video tape has a limited life span, depending a great deal on the temperature and humidity condition that the tape has been exposed to over the course of it’s life.” Under ideal conditions, a magnetic polyester polyurethane tape such as VHS could expect a usable life of up to 30 years, but if the tape is stored in an environment with higher humidity and temperature, they can degrade quickly and have an expected life of 5 years or less.

As new technology emerges, it is essential that your video be migrated to the newer media so you can still watch it and preserve it for yourself, your children and grandchildren. Analog tape doesn’t last forever, and VCR’s are no longer manufactured. Your home movie video will be lost and unplayable if not converted to a new format like DVD, Blu-ray or MP4. All the hard work, time and effort put into creating the video will be wasted.

“We have been doing film to video and video slide shows since very early on, and we have continued to invest in new technology and training to provide services for all the new digital video file formats as well as the capability to migrate all the memories we have stored on film and analog media to modern storage devices such as DVD and CD. In short we can take all your old tapes, regardless of format and transfer the video to a modern DVD format so you can enjoy them as new.”

Since 1996, The Photo Finishers has been serving the photo and video imaging need of clients in Hot Springs and all over the United States. From very humble beginnings, the list of basic photo/video services has expanded to encompass truly dizzying amount of services performed locally by the experts at the Albert Pike location.

“My goal with this business is, and has always been, to offer the most complete variety and highest quality of photography and video services available anywhere under one roof, and I think we have been very successful with that. We are constantly updating our hardware and software to meet the needs of our customers.” states Waco Hill, business owner, “It’s really hard for me to think of any photo or video imaging service -traditional or digital- that we have not provided over the years. It seems like we do it all.”

“We do lots of video tape transfer to DVD including VHS, 8mm, Beta, MiniDV, and more, we even have very substantial volume discounts, as low as $6.99 right now, so it’s a very affordable service. Many people don’t know that we also are capable of transferring analog audio tape to CD or MP3 format. The list of all the things we are capable of doing is really a bit mind boggling to me reflecting on where we started.” says the owner.

Hill adds that all printing and video transfer service is done locally inside The Photo Finishers Albert Pike location. The time to transfer your video is now. No one knows how long tapes will be playable or how long equipment can be maintained, so the recommendation is bring in your video now before it’s to late.
